The European GestEAUr project (Interreg SUDOE) is launching a specialised training programme aimed at professionals and decision-makers involved in water management in small municipalities, with the objective of strengthening their technical skills and supporting decision-making in rural water management.

The Consolidated Research Unit in Water Engineering and Management (IGA) at the University of Salamanca, within the framework of the GestEAUr project, is promoting the SID_AQUARURAL Specialised Training Programme, an initiative designed to provide practical knowledge and tools to address the main challenges of water management in small municipalities across southwestern Europe.

The programme addresses key issues such as water vulnerability, nitrate contamination, drinking water safety, and the economic sustainability of municipal water services.

The training programme is structured into two complementary courses:

  • Course 1. Theoretical Foundations and Basic Knowledge for Rural Water Management, focusing on the essential knowledge required to understand the main challenges associated with water management in rural areas.
  • Course 2. Practical Application Using the SID_AQUARURAL Platform, focusing on the use of this digital tool to simulate scenarios, assess health risks, and support technical, economic, and operational decision-making in municipalities.

The initiative is aimed at technical staff, public sector managers, elected officials, consultants, and other professionals involved in water management and local administration.
