The RELIGHT project continues to share its progress at international forums dedicated to the development of rural areas.
Claudete Oliveira Moreira, from the University of Coimbra team, has presented the project at two significant scientific conferences in Portugal.
With the presentation “Bridging Culture and Tourism: Participatory Approach and Integrated Strategies for Territorial Development in Low-Density European Regions”, Claudete presented the RELIGHT project and the methodology implemented for the development of the Transnational Strategy. The presentation took place within the framework of the 4th European Rural Geographies Conference, entitled “Reinventing Rural Spaces: Resilience, Innovation and Sustainability in a Changing World”, which was held from June 22nd to 26th, 2026, at Casa dos Livros, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, Portugal.
She also had the opportunity to present it in the Eduardo Lourenço Municipal Library, Guarda, as part of the XXVI Summer Course of the Center for Iberian Studies, Guarda, entitled “Transterritorial Dialogues for a Geography of Hope”, which took place from June 30 to July 4, 2026, in Coimbra, Nelas, Folgosinho, Guarda (Portugal), in Béjar and Salamanca (Spain). In this case, her presentation was titled ‘Reimagining the rural in the context of a geography of hope: Culture and tourism in the SUDOE region’.
The Centre for Iberian Studies (CEI), created in 2001, from the collaboration that arose during the commemoration of the eighth centenary of the Portuguese city of Guarda, in 1999, is constituted as a cross-border association made up of the Municipality of Guarda, the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, the University of Coimbra and the University of Salamanca. Its objective is to foster territorial cooperation in the Central Iberian Border, based on dialogue, the meeting of cultures and the exchange of knowledge.
