The e‑Rigation | Interreg SUDOE project officially held its kick-off meeting on 23 September 2025 in Arkaute (Álava, Spain). The meeting was organised by NEIKER BRTA and brought together project partners from Spain, France and Portugal.

During the meeting, the teams reviewed in detail the work plan, the initial technical and financial milestones, and the roadmap that will guide the implementation of the project in the coming months. This first coordination meeting made it possible to align objectives, methodologies and timelines, thereby strengthening transnational cooperation among the partners.

The e‑Rigation project, co-funded by the Interreg Sudoe Programme, aims to develop and test an innovative system based on virtual weather stations. This system will enable the optimization of agricultural irrigation through the use of advanced agrometeorological models, contributing to more efficient water management and enhanced sustainability in the agricultural sector.

With a clearly transnational approach, e‑Rigation combines scientific knowledge, technology and innovation to address one of the major current challenges in southern Europe: efficient water use in the context of climate change. The project seeks to deliver practical and transferable solutions to support a more resilient and sustainable agricultural future.
