Xylofutur showcases innovative wildfire prevention and forest regeneration solutions from its SocialForest pilot sites

Xylofutur has brought to the territory the innovative wildfire prevention and forest regeneration solutions tested at its pilot sites within the SocialForest project, funded by the Interreg Sudoe programme. This took place during an on-site information day held on an experimental plot in the French municipality of Landiras. The event provided an opportunity to present the innovative initiatives implemented by Xylofutur, driven by French start-ups and aimed at addressing the growing risk of forest fires linked to climate change, while also supporting the natural regeneration of forests after fire events.

During the event, the results achieved by the SYLVIACARE system were presented. This technological tool complements the resources already deployed by emergency and fire-fighting services (SDIS). The system is based on a network of sensors installed near high-risk areas, capable of detecting potential fire outbreaks at an early stage. The objective is to improve anticipation and response capacities in order to protect particularly vulnerable forest areas. The solution developed by ELICIR was also highlighted, focusing on supporting the natural regeneration of forests affected by fire. The proposal uses a biostimulant designed to encourage vegetation recovery and accelerate the gradual restoration of forest ecosystems.

The event highlighted the importance of cooperation between institutions, companies and territorial stakeholders in promoting and testing innovative solutions to climate-related challenges. Xylofutur would like to thank all participating partners for their involvement, including the Communauté de Communes Convergence Garonne, the Commune de Landiras, the Commune de Podensac and the Interreg Sudoe programme.
