The construction sector, which is predominant in south-west Europe, has undergone a major crisis while the subsectors of outstanding architecture and design are beginning to acquire great economic importance in the flourishing European market of creative industries. The proposal of KrEaTive Habitat is the promoting of joint research in the application of Essential Facilitation Technologies to the architectural habitat sector. Its objective is to improve the technical features of the materials and to introduce completely new characteristics to provide added value and make them attractive for use in creative industries.

KREATIVE HABITAT is about the construction sector, an important sector in the Sudoe area that has been leading to an unprecedented crisis. Thus, the project seeks to promote the applications of essential facilitating technologies - these advanced materials, nanotechnologies and biotechnologies, being in the construction sector materials linked to the habitat.

For this, KREATIVE HABITAT has developed a series of prototypes:

  • Transparent multifunctional nanorecoating for superhydrophobic and abrasion resistant cement mortar for outdoor protection.
  • Transparent multifunctional nanorecoating for marble with resistance to sunlight and hydrophobicity.
  • Transparent multifunctional nanorecoating for reinforced composite materials with resistance to sunlight and abrasion.
  • Ceramic tile / tile heated for walls or floors with touch activation with capacitive sensing.
  • Heated cork with temperature sensing for thermal mapping.
  • Natural stone kitchen countertop with radiant zone for plate warming function and touch activation with capacitive sensing.
  • PP ablative thermoplastic composite material reinforced with ceramic particles.
  • Powder coating epoxy reinforced with nanoparticles.
  • Cement mortar reinforced with fibers of plant origin.
  • Ceramic-cork composite materials.

All prototypes were integrated into a final physical demonstrator and a virtual demonstrator, accessible on the project website. A community open to all agents was also created.

KREATIVE HABITAT has open doors to new projects in the private sphere.
