Drought is a recurring phenomenon that affects Catalonia, altering the water cycle and conditioning both natural and human uses. The severity of drought depends not only on its duration and intensity but also on the vulnerability of the affected systems, particularly the agricultural sector, which is one of the main water consumers in the region.
The textile and fashion industry in the SUDOE region (Spain, Portugal, and southern France) faces the challenge of adapting to the European Green Deal’s requirements, with a strong focus on sustainability and circular economy. The report “Territorial Mapping of Available Technologies”, part of the Fashion Forward project, provides an analysis of current and future technology adoption in the sector.
A strategy for the financial acceptability of autonomous robotics solutions will be developed, including a shared financing model among compatible agricultural holdings that allows for the mutualisation of costs associated with the implementation of new technologies.
El proyecto FRUCTHOR-IA contempla la realización, en varios territorios, de un conjunto de actividades piloto. Estos ensayos abarcarán dos categorías de soluciones de robótica autónoma: monitorización de cultivos y trabajo colaborativo humano-robot. The experimental areas are located in central France, north-western Spain and southern Portugal and belong to very different soil and climate zones, with diverse socio-economic characteristics. However, they face common challenges such as loss of soil organic matter and increased water stress due to climate change. All of this leads to a loss of microbial life and, consequently, soil fertility. Other soil problems in these areas include the impact of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers.
In this case, cross-border collaboration will take place between wineries and research centres in France, Spain and Portugal, combining their specialities to make better use of lignocellulosic waste (LCW) generated in the wine sector. All wineries in the SUDOE area face the challenge of improving their competitiveness in a global market and their resilience to crises.

Yendo más allá de la transición digital, se centra en el análisis de las necesidades de automatización del sector y en el desarrollo de 2 tipos de soluciones: a) robótica para la monitorización de los cultivos; b) robótica para el trabajo colaborativo hombre-robot.

FRUCTHOR-IA (code S2/1.1/E0170) is an initiative co-financed through the Interreg SUDOE Programme, with the main objective of optimizing the competitiveness of the fruit and vegetable sector in the SUDOE area through the development of autonomous robotics solutions.
Going beyond the digital transition, it focuses on analyzing the sector’s automation needs and developing 2 types of solutions: a) robotics for crop monitoring; b) robotics for human-robot collaborative work.
