Priority : 1 - Preserving Sudoe's natural capital and adapting to climate change
Objectives: SO 2.7 (...) Protection and preservation of nature / biodiversity / green infrastructure
The objective of this catalogue is to present in a synthetic and operational way the pilot actions that are currently experiencing new solutions to conserve forest resources, preserve and strengthen the resilience of forests. Pilot actions to be carried out in the territories (15 pilot sites are already planned) will include three types of solutions: 1/Planting new species and provenances to test their resistance in forests in the long term. This should help environments better cope with different threats. 2/Adoption of specific forestry actions to promote the adaptation and resilience of forests and the maintenance of associated ecosystem services. The aim is to improve, preserve or restore forest cover, for example by enriching the masses, which favors the mixing of species. 3/Implementing actions for the conservation of the forest genetic heritage. These actions aim to respond to important local challenges. The wide variety of forest situations (main objective of the masses, composition in species, age of the masses, etc.) and of the pedocclimatic conditions found must allow a good representativeness of the forest contexts of southwest Europe. The techniques used, the resources mobilised and the results of the pilot actions will be exploited and transferred 1) within the partnership, 2) to other local, regional and national institutions and actors and 3) to other territories of the EU through the European networks of partners and partners to facilitate their ownership. This catalogue will be integrated into the metadata base (ACT2.1) and will illustrate some of the operational recommendations of the Transnational Strategy (achievement of WG1).
Proyecto: FLoRE
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 1 - Preserving Sudoe's natural capital and adapting to climate change
Objectives: SO 2.7 (...) Protection and preservation of nature / biodiversity / green infrastructure
The pilot actions will consist of the collection of seeds from native wild herbaceous plants (such as isolated species or mixtures) from harvesting grasslands of ecological interest previously identified by the partners. These collections may or may not be followed by an intermediate stage of multiplication, after which the seeds will be planted in objective plots of high biodiversity value, located in the vicinity (or, in any case, in the same biogeographical zone) for the purpose of ecological restoration. These pilot projects are innovative at various levels. First, we will work with species that are not, or are not widely available, at first. There is little to no reference to the methods of harvesting the mixtures (brushing, harvesting, hay transfer, manual harvesting) and to the methods used to grow these seeds, so our experiments will generate new knowledge. Within the framework of the Flore project, at least 4 different methods (hence the target value of this indicator) will be tested, but in each country several pilot ecological restoration sites will be created, allowing the diversification of climate and soil methods and contexts. This network of experimental sites will also be a support for the transfer of knowledge, both for the beneficiary partners of the project (through study trips) and for all interested economic operators, with the organisation of technical days. This demonstration value will be maintained in the long term, as pilot site managers will commit to ensuring the sustainability of the facilities, in particular by adopting the recommended sustainable management methods.

Proyecto: Cultur-Monts
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 3 - Promoting social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance in Sudoe through social innovation, heritage enhancement and services
Objectives: SO 4.6 (…) Culture /sustainable tourism
The pilot action of WG3 is the most ambitious of the three developed in the project as it focuses on the definition of effective knowledge transfer mechanisms to make the cultural heritage of mountain landscapes a lever of development for the territories. The transfer is usually located as the last stage of the patrimonialisation processes and often does not materialise, or only in a very partial and institutionalised way, which generates in the end many equipment/equity resources practically abandoned, without a real use and exploitation, that languish and deteriorate quickly because the local population and the territorial actors do not really know them or consider them as their own. This pilot action aims to respond to this problem, completely turning it around from the processes of social innovation. Cultur-MONTS is committed to working on the transfer of heritage from the beginning of the project, placing as protagonists, and active agents of change, local communities, authorities, institutions and territorial actors (especially economic actors). This is how it is intended to test the application of methods of participation, such as “the path of impact”, through the promotion of formal spaces (physical or virtual) of encounter between all the agents involved: the clusters of sociocultural innovation and sustainable development. The idea that local communities express from the beginning what is the impact they expect from the project: what would you like to see achieved with CULTUR-MONTS; and from here, together with the consortium, determine what are the results to achieve and the best tools to achieve them.
Proyecto: SMART GREEN WATER
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 2 - Promoting social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance in Sudoe through innovation and the transformation of productive sectors
Objectives: SO 1.4 (...) Smart Specialisation / Industrial Transition / Entrepreneurship
The objective of this pilot project is to develop “digital twins” of cultivation and irrigation systems for several pilot plots distributed by SUDOE. The methodology will have been developed jointly and standardised at CESAP, under the coordination of the UCO. The objective will be to create “digital twins” (MD) for pilot plots in the regions of Catalonia, Andalusia, Murcia, Nueva Aquitania and Alentejo in voluntary irrigation farms. The implementation of this action will allow irrigators to better plan and manage their irrigation water thanks to this decision-making tool, as well as through exchanges of experience with other SUDOE farmers. The activity will be evaluated jointly by CESAP, based on farmers’ comments on the use of these technologies. This evaluation will allow the solution to be adapted so that it can be integrated into the SGW Strategy, as well as facilitating its transfer to other SUDOE regions. The evaluation will also serve to provide feedback to providers of this type of service and potential technical support companies. The objective will be to improve the tool and encourage its deployment in other holdings, including small and medium-sized farms, the priority objective of the SGW project.
Proyecto: An-Gel Sudoe
Period: 2021-2027

Priority : 1 - Preserving Sudoe's natural capital and adapting to climate change
Objectives: SO 2.4 (...) Climate Change Adaptation / Risk Prevention
The early warning system will make it possible to anticipate spring frost situations so that active means can be prepared to complement passive and semi-passive solutions, which are of a continuous nature. The system will combine models weather forecast numbers (NPM) with high-precision soil temperature maps developed from local time series. This methodology allows to perform a downscaling process from local information to reach a very high level of accuracy (individual plot level or hyperlocal scale). The system will be highly oriented to provide an easy-to-interpret mobile version in the field, including a system dissemination module for sending alerts via email, SMS and mobile notifications. This system will be integrated as part of the ClimAlert platform, enriching its spectrum of information and attracting new users.
Proyecto: PreDisc
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 3 - Promoting social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance in Sudoe through social innovation, heritage enhancement and services
Objectives: SO 4.5 (...) Access to care /health systems
Conduct of a randomised multicenter clinical trial with intervention and control group in 300 elderly patients of the Geriatric/Internal Medicine service in the hospitals participating in the project. The hospital care model of the HUN Geriatrics Service has demonstrated, through scientific evidence, the prevention of disability generated during hospitalisation in 60 % of patients who perform the individualised exercise program. Starting from the basis of this model, and seeking its optimisation, an innovative hospital care model will be developed jointly that will be implemented in HDFF (Portugal), CHU-T (France), SAAS (Andorra) and HUN (Spain). The design of the clinical trial will take into account the needs, possibilities and characteristics of each hospital for its implementation and subsequent follow-up after 3 months of the intervention, in order to assess the adherence and the results of the practice of physical exercise and adoption of healthy habits. This pilot activity will begin with the joint elaboration of the protocol, and, after its approval by the different Ethical Committees, the recruitment of patients in the 3 hospitals that will be randomised through a blind procedure (month 7) will begin. The duration of the clinical trial is estimated at 2 years, and once completed, the results analysis will be carried out. The results of this pilot activity tested in the three hospitals will allow the development of a solution that can be easily transferred to other hospitals in different territories. The implementation of this pilot activity in three hospitals in different countries and regions brings added value to the results, since it includes a heterogeneous population with different social and economic characteristics of the SUDOE territory and with different health systems, increasing the impact of the results at a scientific level with social and political impact.

Proyecto: HITTS
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 3 - Promoting social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance in Sudoe through social innovation, heritage enhancement and services
Objectives: SO 4.6 (…) Culture /sustainable tourism
The HITTS project will develop 1 pilot experience of the Strategy developed in WG2 with different thematic focus in each country (1 in Spain, 1 in France and 1 in Portugal). All pilot actions will share common and other distinctive elements, depending on the characteristics of each territory, its potential and needs and the existence of a different national reference framework. Each territory will test common elements of the Strategy necessary to achieve the desired socio-economic development. In this regard, the common part tested by all partners will include the development of a participatory governance system (A3.1); design of an action plan translating the strategy into concrete measures (A3.2) and training for local actors (A3.3). The thematic pilot experience will be different in each territory: — Spain (PP1, PP2, PP3) – Readaptive Wealth Use Approach: promote, condition and adapt cultural and natural heritage to ensure universal access to certain identified elements or goods. — France (PP7, PP8) – Mobilisation of actors for the creation of tourist, artistic and cultural activities for the revitalisation of the cultural and natural heritage of a common protected area. — Portugal (PP5,PP6) – Readaptation of the natural heritage of the lizards and conditioning of the hiking routes in Montalegre. These actions will be very important for HITTS, as key and common elements of the strategy can be tested in real environments with their uniqueness and themes. The results obtained will serve to collect improvements to be integrated into the Strategy based on the aspects tested in the SUDOE territory.
Proyecto: Cultur-Monts
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 3 - Promoting social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance in Sudoe through social innovation, heritage enhancement and services
Objectives: SO 4.6 (…) Culture /sustainable tourism
Pilot action articulated in 5 analysis windows that make up a territorial transect by different Sudoe mountain landscapes, with diverse geographical and heritage characteristics. The pilot action makes it possible to propose and test various methodological proposals for valorisation, as well as devices for the digitisation of heritage or its virtualisation through 3D models. The pilot windows work complementary problems between them and carry out demonstration actions also cooperatives that aim to evaluate the best solutions for each type of landscape and heritage. Physical signage solutions are compared with virtual formulas, still little extended, but that allow to analyse non-invasive methodologies for the patrimonialisation of cultural landscapes. An important aspect that also addresses this pilot action is the incorporation of technological devices and inclusive museographic supports, which allow to make accessible all the valuable heritage to society as a whole, especially to people with disabilities who are usually without tools to enjoy the cultural heritage under equal conditions, especially if it is outdoors and not in a museum. The pilot action will not only test the most appropriate tools to patrimonialise, but also aims to evaluate the impact of the existence of these inclusive resources on groups with blindness or visual deficit when performing activities of discovery of the landscape, which we perceive mainly by sight.
Proyecto: RePo-SUDOE

This will be done recognising the role of the pharmaceutical industry in bringing medicines to patients.
Proyecto: TARGET
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 1 - Preserving Sudoe's natural capital and adapting to climate change
Objectives: SO 2.5 (...) Access to water / sustainable water management
The objective of this pilot activity is to test the applicability of the TARGET strategy to the Dordogne river basin (A.1.5). The test procedures and methodologies will have been prepared in advance by CESEEAP. It will be implemented in accordance with the 4 pillars of the Strategy and respecting its 3 principles. It will allow for the implementation, after critical analysis and adaptation, of solutions tested by project partners and associated partners, in other contexts, at river basin level (in particular CEREMA’s “Resilience Compass” and ECF multi-criteria mapping analysis). The action will lead to the development of a master plan for the sustainable management of the water resources of the Dordogne basin, which will make it possible to replace the fragile water resources of the basin with unconventional water resources (regenerated waters, rainwater, grey water). This master plan will indicate, for each sector and use of the Dordogne river basin, the appropriateness of using non-conventional waters and, if so, the means to be applied (agents, techniques and financing). Following the evaluation of the implementation of the pilot action by CESEEAP, a methodological guide for the implementation of the TARGET strategy at river basin level will be developed. It will contain the tools and methods for the application of the principles (efficient use, RANC, innovation) and pillars of the Strategy (current situation, consultation, forecasting, action plan) at basin level. This guide will be used later by AMAYA and its partner JUNTA DE ANDALUCIA in an Andalusian river basin. The master plan will be adopted by EPIDOR’s governing bodies and feedback sessions on the approved TARGET strategy and evaluation of the pilot action will be organised, in particular with the partner ANEB.
Proyecto: Cultur-Monts
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 3 - Promoting social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance in Sudoe through social innovation, heritage enhancement and services
Objectives: SO 4.6 (…) Culture /sustainable tourism
Pilot action organised in 5 analysis windows aimed at the experimental impulse of memory laboratories to recover, preserve, value and transmit the intangible heritage linked to mountain cultural landscapes. Knowledge, doings, activities, traditional trades are at critical risk of disappearance in mountain environments due to the strong impact of population ageing, the demographic crisis and the lack of generational renewal in mountain exploitation activities, as well as the loss of intergenerational transmission of all oral heritage that explains legends, collective memories, traditions, names of places, transit roads, folk songs; an intangible human heritage, but indispensable, to understand the cultural and heritage dimension of mountain landscapes and that is irrecoverable once the voices of the senior population are extinguished. The pilot action also focuses on a historical vacuum in relation to the intangible heritage of mountain environments, especially if we talk about pastoralism and transhumance: the invisibility of women in this heritage. The pilot addresses this problem in a clear way with the aim of recovering and claiming the orality, knowledge and feminine practices in the mountain environments of the consortium, which is also the way to dignify the activities of domestic cure and terea that have historically fallen to women and have been underestimated in the whole ethnographic and intangible heritage of agropastoralism and the exploitation of the mountain. Finally, the pilot action allows to define and test a joint methodology deployed through the laboratories that are conceived to be able to give them continuity beyond the project and be easily transferable. It highlights the work in favor of the transmissibility of orality and the testing of mechanisms to reproduce it within the community.

The objective of this pilot action is to jointly develop a method and then characterise existing digital solutions on the market (sensors, remote sensing, remote control, irrigation software). The methodology and evaluation of digital solutions will have been developed jointly and standardised in CESAP, under the coordination of the UPA. The development of the method will be enriched by the participation of the different actors involved in the project and with the results of the other activities of the project: This action will propose recommendations for irrigation sector technicians in the SUDOE for the choice of solutions among the existing product range. It will also identify gaps in the repertoire of available technologies and make recommendations to solution developers on current supply gaps and opportunities for improvement. All this will be available on the SGW platform, which will also constitute a forum for exchange between farmers (technological users), companies (suppliers) and technology centres or universities (evaluating trainers). In this way, farmers in the SUDOE region will be able to share their knowledge about certain tools with their counterparts, while companies and trainers will be able to better understand the needs of users and improve the proposed solutions.

Realisation 2 of Phos4Cycle seeks to establish pilot actions to improve the monitoring of phosphate flows and the forecasting of the risk of eutrophication in the river basins. It will also allow to describe the behavior of phosphorus according to different types of agricultural management in different production systems. For this purpose, a global pilot has been designed to be implemented in 6 territorial pilots (“sub”pilots) in Spain, France and Portugal. The design of the general pilot has been carried out by the BP ITAGRA, and coordinated on the one hand with the other 5 partners who together with ITAGRA will apply the design in the 6 territorial pilots, and on the other hand, with the 2 beneficiaries in charge of the analysis of soil, water and sediment samples, No 8 AQUACorp and No 9 ADERA. Each territorial pilot will be developed in a level 3 river basin, in which 3 sub-basins will be defined, one in which a traditional management will be carried out, which will serve as a reference, and another 2 with experimental management that tries to reduce phosphate pollution through responsible management. The 6 territorial pilots are shown below, including their location, responsible partner and agricultural system: Pilot 1: ES – Castilla y León – ITAGRA – REGADIO: Pilot cereal 2: ES – La Rioja – Government of La Rioja – PERMANENT CULTIVOS (VID AND OLIVO) Pilot 3: ES – Extremadura – FEDEHESA – AGROFORESTAL SYSTEM AND EXTENSIVE DEHESA Pilot 4 PT – Central/Coimbra Region – IPC (ESAC) – REGION: Horticultural Pilot 5: PT – Central Region/Aveiro – IPC (ESAC) – WINNERIA INTENSIVA DE VACUNO AND PASTO Piloto 6: FR – Nouvelle Aquitaine – ITAVI – EXTENSIVE AVICULTURE Three of the six pilots will install the AQUACorp technology for remote water analysis as part of the experimentation. The pilot actions are characterised by their cross-border and cooperative nature between the beneficiaries and the associated partners of the project and aim to implement the results of the study and scientific analysis activities of WG1 and WG2. The first pilot action aims to study the transferability of bio-products validated in the previous activities through the industrial incorporation and marketing of stabilised functional ingredients developed from agroforestry residual biomass. A value chain will be developed between the partners INGREDALIA, TAGUS Valey and ARGAL that will be based on the results of the GT1 and that will result in the testing and possible commercialisation of new sausages with biofunctional ingredients. The second pilot action seeks to replicate a transnational biorefinery process in the agroforestry sector that can be transferred to other entities in the cooperation space. The value chain will consist of the associated partners Alliance Forêts-Bois, Sogibois, FBS, TMAD and ENCE, who will provide the raw materials and partners INPT, INRAE, UVIGO, UMINHO, CETIM and BLC3 Evolution, who will take on the transformation and conversion. The efficiency and feasibility of this process will be analysed in order to study its possible continuity and replicability after the completion of the project. The achievements and results of these actions will in turn feed transnational strategies and provide consortium partners with very useful practical experience to ensure the transfer of validated by-products and processes.

The campaigns described in GT3 represent pioneering Pilot Activities in the application of WSN to the prevention and early detection of forest fires, highlighting the extent of the territory and the diversity of locations, the variety of meteorological and environmental sensors, the size (number of nodes) of the WSNs, the duration of the campaigns and the participation of municipal forest fire fighting services and the local population. The Pilot Activities will bring together the knowledge and experience of forest fires accumulated by the consortium, bring new knowledge, technologies and results and allow to draw conclusions and learn lessons on the performance of WSNs. The consortium will translate the know-how acquired on the occasion of the Pilot Activities in two Practical GUIDES (GP) for the application of WSN to the prevention (GP_Prevention) and the early detection (GP_Detection) of forest fires. The GPs will serve as a reference and guidance on how to use WSNs to improve the anticipation and response capacity of rural municipalities and their inhabitants to forest fires. They will address aspects such as the identification and prioritisation of fire-vulnerable zones suitable for the establishment of WSN, WSN sizing and design, WSN deployment in the field, wireless infrastructure, energy efficiency and data transmission, cost assessment, sustainability and environmental impact, physical and information security, citizen participation and others. ICIFOR-INIA CSIC will lead the development of the GPs in which the entire consortium will be involved. A preliminary version of the GPs will be delivered in month 18 and the final version in month 34 of the Project.

Objectives: SO 2.5 (...) Access to water / sustainable water management
Implementation of two pilot actions in woody and horticultural crops, with 13 and 2 experiences respectively, in which to evaluate the effects of the use of regenerated water in irrigation, represent a basic tool for the implementation of technological solutions that facilitate the management of irrigation water (conventional and regenerated sources) through the digitisation of irrigation, providing starting information and tools for the end user, transferable to other crops and socio-economic and cultural situations. The good management of regenerated water in the crops is ensured by the implementation of a DSS of crop fertigation (GT3), based on the analyses (soil, water, plant tissues) and the information of the low-cost sensoric installed in each experience.
Proyecto: AgroTour SUDOE
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 3 - Promoting social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance in Sudoe through social innovation, heritage enhancement and services
Objectives: SO 4.6 (…) Culture /sustainable tourism
The different pilot experiences are structured into three groups, each identified with a theme and leading to a solution: The first group (digitalisation) will generate a solution in terms of digitisation of the agrotourism experience (demand) and improvement of business competitiveness (offer). — New digital technologies (mixed and augmented reality) for the creation of immersive agrotouristic experiences (CDA24). — Intelligent data management system (Smart Data) for the improvement of the competitiveness of agrotourism companies from the improvement of customer knowledge and the subsequent segmentation of products and tourism experiences. The second group (environmental sustainability) will generate a solution of valorisation and differentiation of agrotouristic products with low environmental impact: — Creation of tourist itineraries aimed at sustainable development and promotion of km0 agri-food products (CRTLO) and connection with environmental protection figures (products of the Biosphere Reserve, in the case of the RBOV). — Creation of a digital product passport with information on environmental footprint, origin, quality certifications, etc. (CIM VDL). The third group (segmentation of audiences) will generate innovative experiences adapted to different audiences particularly suitable for the agrotourism sector: — Agrotourism experiences designed for children and youth audiences of urban origin (F. Ávila), including collaboration in traditional trades. — Valuation of agri-food products among hikers (CDA09), both in destination (Ariège) and origin (concept store in Toulouse). — Design of agrotourism circuits for urban family audiences (SODEBUR), including intangible heritage associated with traditional rural life. The project therefore plans to develop a total of three pilot actions within the framework of RCO84.

In the cross-border area of Arribes and Alto Douro the NBS measures to improve the IV will be implemented in vineyards of the Bodegas Pascual Fernández in Fermoselle (Zamora) and the Duorum Winery in Foz Coa and the surrounding land. These areas face challenges such as: — Fragmentation of plots, rugged orography and high cultivation costs. — Soils with little organic matter and unequal fertility. — Lack of variety in crops and increasing water stress. — Hotter and drier summers. — Risk of erosion on slopes. — Water scarcity and competition for it. — Increased erosion due to extreme weather events. — Soils with little organic matter. — Risk of fire and depopulation/desertification. In both regions, the project seeks to address agricultural and environmental challenges while promoting biodiversity and cultural heritage conservation, contributing to resilience to climate change. In the area of Mariñas -Betanzos will work on plots of the Bodega Pagos de Brigante in the area of action the challenges have to do with: — Small farms and wineries, with business at the limit of profitability. — Numerous vineyards abandoned in recent decades. — Planting tree species (eucalyptus) on abandoned vineyard farms – Difficult supply of local grapes. — Recurring crop damage caused by wildlife by abandoning farms close to the vineyards. This pilot aims to capitalise on the learnings of pilot 1 developed in France to implement NBS that increase SSEEs. In all these areas, the project seeks to address agricultural and environmental challenges while promoting biodiversity and the conservation of natural and cultural heritage, contributing to resilience to climate change and curbing depopulation.

The Gaillac experimental area, located in Tarn, France, faces a number of challenges today, including: — Water scarcity and water stress, as well as the need for adaptation to climate change. — Soils impoverished in organic matter. — Control of pests and diseases in grape crops. — Reduced grape yield and decrease in wine consumption. Through the implementation and monitoring of the improvement actions in the IV, it seeks to address these challenges and at the same time, promote biodiversity, preserve cultural heritage and strengthen the resilience of the territory to climate change. The actions will be carried out in two models of vineyards, the experimental vineyard of the IFV as a “green” model and another vineyard in Gaillac as a “conventional” model with less IV. They comprise: 1. Diagnosis of aerial biodiversity in the vineyard. 2. The development of a temperature map in the experimental vineyard to identify freshness areas and their relationship with Actions IV, as well as their impact on vines. 3. Experimental test on SSEEs provided by plant cover, such as green fertilisers and temporary or permanent herbaceous covers. Aspects such as nitrogen supply, storage and release of water for vines (using biomass, nitrogen and carbon soil analysis, humidity and temperature sensors, structural stability, etc.) and associated biodiversity will be analysed. 4. In the green vineyard, a study of the hives and a pollen analysis will be carried out to determine where the bees meet in the different Actions IV of the Vinnopôle. With these actions, we hope to move towards a more sustainable and resilient management of vineyards of high ecological value, addressing current challenges and promoting the conservation of the natural and cultural environment.

Priority : 1 - Preserving Sudoe's natural capital and adapting to climate change
Objectives: SO 2.5 (...) Access to water / sustainable water management
The objective of this pilot activity is to test the applicability of the TARGET Strategy method at local level, in the municipalities of Granollers and Barreiro. The test procedures and methodologies will have been prepared in advance by CESEEAP. It will be implemented in accordance with the 4 pillars of the Strategy and in compliance with its 3 principles. It will allow solutions tested by project partners and associated partners to be implemented, after critical analysis and adaptation, in other contexts, at the level of local authorities (in particular work on nature-based solutions of AMAYA and ECF). The action will culminate in the development of an action programme for the optimisation of Reut in Granollers and prospective scenarios for water management in Barreiro. The program will allow, for each sector and use in the municipality of Granollers, to indicate whether it is necessary to optimise the RANCs and the resources to be deployed (actors, techniques and financing). The prospective scenarios studied for water management in Barreiro will expose the advantages and disadvantages of ENCs for the preservation of the resource and the environment. Once the implementation of the pilot action has been assessed by the CESEEAP, a methodological guide for the implementation of the TARGET strategy at local level will be developed. It will contain the tools and methods for applying the principles (efficient use, RANC, innovation) and pillars of the Strategy (current situation, consultation, forecasting, action plan) at local level. The action programme will be adopted by the Granollers authorities, and a forward-looking scenario will be adopted by the Barreiro authorities. Sessions will then be organised to present the approved TARGET strategy and feedback on the pilot action.
Proyecto: An-Gel Sudoe
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 1 - Preserving Sudoe's natural capital and adapting to climate change
Objectives: SO 2.4 (...) Climate Change Adaptation / Risk Prevention
Under the An-Gel Sudoe project, 8 pilot areas have been selected: Lleida, Lot-et-Garonne, Bordeaux, Dordogne (x2), Rioja Alavesa, Murcia and Braganza. In each of these areas, work will be carried out in collaboration with a group of associated producers, either using farms under real production conditions or involving them in the technical follow-up of the tests. The prevention, adaptation and mitigation techniques to be tested will be (activities 2.1 and 2.2): — High precision foliar spraying (active solution). — Active ventilation (active solution). — Soil moisture management (semi-passive solution, linked to high-precision spraying, but strategically applied in a preventive and non-reactive manner). — Soil cover management — Hot hedges (passive solution). — Convective drainage of cold air — Late pruning of vines to delay the appearance of frost (solution intended to minimise the destructive effects of frost). The final solution will be the use of one of these techniques or a possible combination of several of them to adapt perfectly to the constraints of farmers in a given area. For example, a cold-breaker hedge can be used to limit the flow of cold air in the plot (passive solution), combined with controlling soil moisture by influencing the vegetation cover or by high-precision spraying (in the foliage) a few days before frost (semi-passive solution) or, if necessary, during intense frost episodes (active solution), if water resources are available. Therefore, it is considered a single solution, as it is conceived as a “toolbox” that allows combining different techniques to offer effective solutions according to the particular context of the different farms participating in the project as pilot centres.
Proyecto: ThermEcoWat
Period: 2021-2027
State: On going
Priority : 1 - Preserving Sudoe's natural capital and adapting to climate change
Objectives: SO 2.5 (...) Access to water / sustainable water management
At least 3 pilot cases (1 per country) act as living laboratories, offering concrete lessons and allowing the Decision Support System (DSS) to be tested, enriched with feedback and new knowledge. These pilot cases not only provide practical data, but also help strengthen the strategic and operational skills of thermal city managers. The feedback obtained facilitates the optimisation of thermal water infrastructures, as well as the implementation of effective climate change adaptation measures. This practical approach aims to promote economic benefit for both operators and policy makers, thus consolidating the sustainable management of thermal water in the thermal territories of SUDOE. These 3 pilot cases are concrete initiatives that seek to test and demonstrate innovative solutions developed for the sustainable management of hot springs. The aim is to put into practice the knowledge acquired, collect tangible data, and generate valuable lessons that feed the process of adaptation to climate change. These pilot actions represent crucial steps in the transformation of theoretical concepts into operational solutions, thus contributing to the achievement of the project’s objectives.

This pilot project aims to launch 2 training programmes: — For irrigators in the use of digital technologies to improve their water use efficiency. — For irrigation communities and other actors in the collective management of water resources, to develop strategies for water management in the event of drought, using digital technologies. The training programmes will have been drawn up jointly at CESAP, under the coordination of the UPA. The pilot action will be implemented in the design and implementation of online training programmes in French, Spanish and Portuguese. The content of the programmes will be developed and implemented based on the needs identified in the diagnosis and to complement existing training courses. These online programmes will be complemented by the organisation of technological demonstration days in at least Nueva Aquitaine, Andalusia, Catalonia and Portugal. The action will ultimately be evaluated by CESAP. The aim will be to adapt the solution so that it can be integrated into the SGW Strategy, as well as facilitating its transfer to other SUDOE regions.
The objective of this pilot action is to develop water management strategies in situations of scarcity using digital technologies. The methodology will have been developed jointly and standardised at CESAP, under the coordination of the IRTA. It will be implemented with irrigation communities in the regions of Andalusia, Catalonia and Alentejo and in a sub-basin of Nouvelle-Aquitaine (Adour and Dordogne). The main expected results are the application of water management strategies in situations of scarcity, using a method that can serve as a reference for other actors of SUDOE. This will encourage the adoption of good practices and the improvement of governance in the collective management of water resources. The action will be evaluated jointly in CESAP on the basis of the opinions of the actors who have participated in the elaboration of the strategies. This evaluation will allow the solution to be adapted so that it can be integrated into the SGW Strategy, as well as facilitating its transfer to other SUDOE regions.
