Pilot 2: TRADITIONAL PROTECTION of ALUMINUM alloys uses layers containing HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM, a TOXIC chemical. Due to restrictions in Europe, safer ALTERNATIVES are being sought, such as tartaric-sulfuric and boric-sulfuric ANODIZING, which do not contain chromium. In this project, TWO completely CHROMIUM-FREE METHODS will be developed and optimized: a tartaric-sulfuric anodic layer and conversion coatings, which improve the metal’s corrosion resistance. Additionally, CORROSION INHIBITORS will be tested and methods will be implemented to control the quality of treatments applied to metal parts.

This joint acceleration programme adopted by organisations will be the culmination of the implementation of a common strategy adopted by the six incubators (CARO, HIESE, IMT Alès, Albi, CEEIM, FUNDECYT). The successful adoption of the strategy will be made possible through the bi-monthly meetings of the consortium and through the deliverables. Indeed, each deliverable will contain a “best practices” section that will allow the members of the consortium but also the other readers of the deliverable to implement the SCAIRA methodology defined in the project strategy. Renault and AIRBUS ATLANTIC, as manufacturers directly concerned by this need for environmental transition in their respective ecosystems, will actively participate in the implementation of the strategy. The combined skills of the clusters’ incubators & ecosystems, as well as the support of the 6 industrialists (including Airbus Atlantic and Renault Espana) will create and deliver specialized services to accelerate the implementation of innovative green solutions in manufacturing companies in SCAIRA’s regions.
This pilot will target the educational community and will deploy a gamification program in schools that encourages mentality change in children. The program will involve 50 schools for 4-6 weeks. Clothing collection races will be organised with municipalities and textile waste managers. Practical upcycling and repair workshops will be held and students will collect from schools disused clothing from their families and social environment.
Repositioning seeks to identify new therapeutic applications for existing drugs, enabling a more agile response to unmet medical needs. This list makes key candidates available to the pharmaceutical industry and the scientific community to facilitate both the development and transfer of these drugs into clinical practice, so that they may ultimately reach patients.
Implementation of 3 collaborative robot demonstrators in a real productive environment focused on 3 different sectors of high representativeness and economic impact in the SUDOE space (carnic, fruit and plastics) and 3 living labs for the integration and demonstration of the results achieved in the framework of the project to the business fabric and other entities interested in implementing the solutions developed, or equivalent, in their production processes.
This initial deployment serves as a work base to test the different processes of data acquisition, model capacity, simulation of polluting processes, etc. Once the prototype phase is completed, the deployment in the pool of the Institute of Thermalism of the Univ de Bordeaux will be the first pilot.
After the deployment and commissioning of the monitoring and control system, the locations/balconies will become the pilots of the project, where the data captured by the thermal water quality control system will be collected and analysed. These pilots will allow to evaluate the effectiveness of the system in real time and its ability to guarantee water quality in various thermal environments. The results obtained from these pilots will provide nexcessary information for the future implementation of the system in other spas within the Interreg SUDOE territory.
